Yeehaw! Comic away! I'm so tired! Let's do this quick!

If you're wondering why there's only "four" pages, you're wrong. There are in fact five. It's just page two and three of this week are fused together to make the nice big picture in pink. It was so much better than splitting them or making the picture smaller. I was kind of thinking like a print comic for a while. Ehe...

Muu... I need to get food. I want some boiled chicken for some reason. I love that stuff.

Doot doot doot. Need to work on next Edda!

COFFEE!! I need coffee! But my "Coffeemate" is in Harry Lime's car! NOOOoooOOOOooooOOO!!

I fell asleep last night after moving heavy boxes of games back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and... Gah... I hate inventory. So, I came home, took a bath, and proceeded to read the book that Harry's grandparents gave me for Christmas, Better than Sex by Hunter S. Thompson. Then I fell asleep. I dreamed about fashion dolls coming to life and acting like zombies. I punted a few. It was fun.

I'll have SGVY hopefully done soon. Nnnn... Need coffee...

It's hard to focus when the object of the eye is moving like a dragonfly.

Well, here it is. Thursday. Um, yeah. I'm not getting into that...

I can't think of a damned thing to say. Tails is staring off into space and not giving me any ideas. (Yes, I have a stuffed Tails doll. He is awesome. The only reason I mention him is because I can't think of anything to write. Or maybe because he's awesome. Maybe I should end this little rant within the parentheses. (How do you spell that word?!) Okay, ending it now.)

Hnnnnnn... My Gamecube Keyboard is not here yet. Damn those Codejunkies-like people! I haven't been playing PSO because I have no keyboard! Grr...

I am so looking forward to getting Wario Ware for my GBA. No one else is around me, except for Harry Lime, and I think that's all that counts. The game looks frickin' awesome, if you ask me. The style just makes me drool, and well, the Nintendo-nostalgia mini-games are really cool. (Hey, that rhymed. I never can make things rhyme. Argh, I'm back in parentheses land. END!!) Yeah, you should be excited about this game too.

I think I'm going to bed now. I need to clean the place up tomorrow. The stacks of SGVY pencils are getting to me, and I think there's something living in the Dreamcast drawer. I'll get the shovel...

Bunny-wunny hoppity-hoo, too late.

I'm feeling jumpy/agitated/frustrated/restless right now. I don't know why. I usually get random when I start to work on something. I'll find everything in the world to do rather than the thing I need to work on, but tonight it's different. I WANT to work on SGVY, but I'm so agitated that I'm having to take breaks to calm myself down. I guess it's because I expected to have a full day today just doing things, but I ended up spending most of the day just sitting around waiting for things to happen. I'm not depressed about this like I usually get either. I'm actually in good spirits. Whee!

Currently I'm listening to the Wolf's Rain OST 1. I'm so in love with this soundtrack now. More so than the Ikaruga soundtrack I was listening to last night. I was happy to get the Ikaruga soundtrack, but I love Yoko Kanno more. This album just has such a nice feel to it. I can feel it make me work. I've been wanting an album like this for a while. The Portuguese music and jazz are a nice mix. I can hear a little of Uncharted Waters: New Horizons in this album too, which of course bumps it up a few notches in my book.

If you know me, you'd know I really love the UW:New Horizons soundtrack. I listen to it all the time. I have since 1996. It reminds me of mountains and forests, probably because I first listened to it while going through the Appalachians. If you can get your hands on it, buy it. The second best thing is to get the KOEI Game Misc Works - Yoko Kanno Collection. Harry Lime really loves "Aoi Hatou" on this soundtrack, which I believe is from Uncharted Waters. My favorite is "Mast in the Mist." (Is that on the KOEI album? *checks* Yep, track 4.)

Gah, need more Kanno-san's stuff. Need more money. Need Mac. Need Easy Mac. Need...

Enough with the needs! Now is the time on SGVY when we draw! Draw like the wind!

Happy, happy bunny.

Hey, hey, kids! Guess what? Scott McCloud mentioned SGVY today. Yay!

Thank you to all who have offered to sell me cars or have pointed me in the direction of cars. I appreciate all the help I am getting. Most of you whom have offered to sell me cars, I am WAY far out of the way to drive to see the car. Sorry. ^_^;; Otherwise, the car hunt is good.

I've been kinda lazy the past couple days, but I'm sure that's okay. I'm healthy for once in my life, except for the damned allergies. Ah, but summer is coming, and it will burn all the lovely pollen-producing trees. BURN!!

Ooh! Ooh! I learned today that Wallsmart is having a fabric sale soon! I am so going to be there. I need to get fabric for costumes. I think I'm going to do the White Mage Kittyhawk costume for Dragon*Con. It's quite a ways away, but knowing me, I need to start now.

I'm tired right now. I think I'll sleep for an hour. 'Night.

Stupid blog better update...

4:40:00 AM

Sorry if the site went down for you yesterday. Our server died once again. It has been revived, but we will still give it a swift kick in the non-existent ass. *kick!*

Wheehoo! Kitty is back with the comic, and all is good with the world. I like the bone-breaking action in this installment. Bones breaking = hilarity. I'm sure you'll agree with this.

In other fantastical news, I'm gettin' a new car! Let heaven rejoice! Mokonamobile's days are numbered as I look for a replacement. Here's what I'm looking for in a car:

Necessary features:
1. Working engine.

Optional features:
1. Air conditioner.
2. Working windows.
3. Seatbelts.
4. Doors.
5. Floor.
6. Cup holder.
Etc.

I wonder if I'll find one that matches this criteria. I hope I'm not being picky.

Oh, I guess I should announce it now...

COME TO DRAGON*CON!!

You should come to Dragon*Con 2003! And here's the reason you should:

I'M A PANELIST!!

That's right, kids! I've got a panel! I was put in charge of putting together a panel on webcomics for this year's Dragon*Con. So, if you want to see me and other webcomic artists (such as Dave "The Knave" White of The Japanese Beetle fame!), you should come! We'll talk it up Montrose-style!

Well, I'm off to bed. I need to clean my house tomorrow and go car shopping. Wish me the luck of Volkswagons and Volvos.

Dr. Mario for the Nobunaga's Ambition.

It's a beautiful new day at the home of Kittyhawk. It's cold as hell! What happened to my warm, summery weather? Argh! And I just bought a swimsuit. Curse you, weather!

Sorry about the delay on the update. Ehe... Spring Break tends to slow things down. The comic looks good though. I'm proud. I think I'm improving. I think this alfredo vegetable-pasta thing is awesome. Too bad there's no more. And what's happening on the last page? Wait for next week's comic!

Pictures! Pictures! I've been playing with the digital camera again! This is my favorite view. If you can guess where it is, cookies! The duct tape at the top is holding the fabric up in Harry Lime's car. It's got tent action going on! I like this picture because it's just really good for some reason. Guess where it is too! It's a bit easier.

Well, work awaits me. I'll work on some SGVY stuff when I get home. Ya!

Don't speak the plans lest they hear and scream.

Nnnn... Had a busy weekend. I was away from my computer, so I was unable to work on the "inking" and coloring of SGVY. The pencils are done though. Yay. I've got the day off tomorrow, so I'm planning to work on SGVY and SGVY-related stuff tomorrow.

Good night, y'all. Dream of cream puffs.

Ultimate monkey head!

Thursday, out of the blue, one of my favorite webcomic artists announced that he was leaving the realm of webcomics. Not for good, he says, but as his major focus in publishing his work. This came as a shock seeing as his comic is one of the most popular webcomics out there. In fact, this comic was the whole reason I became interested in the whole webcomic idea. In his final message, he lists the reasons why he is leaving online comics. His reasons include not being able to make money, being shown up by a certain webcomic that uses Final Fantasy sprites, and seeing a resurge in printed comics and seeing his comic being better suited to this media.

"So what?" you must be saying. The guy just left to go do the "professional" thing and pursue the legit way to make comics because webcomics are obviously not working of him. Well, I'm here to say this to this artist:

Goddamn you.

Goddamn you. You were on top of the webcomic world. You had it all. You had fans that were willing to do anything for you to write your comic. You were respected. You were mentioned all over the fucking place. You could have been rolling in the money with underage goth girlies who love men who draw goth girlies with huge tits, but you never achieved this. What happened?

For one thing, you lost it. You lost the ability to write a funny story that made the fans howl with laughter. You speak of learning "professionalism" somewhere along the way and abandoning all that made your comic what it was. So what if it was all about insanity and T&A? If it works, it works. There is a difference between becoming professional and becoming a fucking idiot. A professional gives the fans what they want and does what he wants on the side. He can create a balancing act that works. A fucking idiot spouts off things like "professionalism" and "learning how to do things right." That's bullshit. Don't just change the story halfway just because you learned "how to do things right." Do a little of what you've learned, but don't just shoot the horse. That's what a fucking idiot does.

Next, you said you made no money. You're an idiot if you didn't. What did you do to make money? For one thing, you abandoned Cafepress during the whole raising of the rates incident. Fine. You don't want to lose some of your profit. So what did you do? Produce lots of T-shirts using other methods to feed the fans' demands? No, you maybe released a T-shirt every year, and in limited quantities. Brilliant. Fans grow tired if you don't present them with new and interesting merchandise, and you certainly let this happen. The print idea was pretty cool, but you didn't advertise it that much and did it much too late. You also asked for donations, but did you offer anything in return? The certain sprite comic whom you hate so much offers a cool bonus to its donators. Incentive, my friend. You have to offer something in order to be paid. I imagine that your argument is that the comic is incentive enough, but most fans do not think this way. The comic brings them in; the extras bring them closer.

Finally, you plan on going into the world of printed comics. Good luck. I doubt you will find a publisher who will be willing to distribute your comic. If you do, your readership will be extremely low. The great thing about the webcomic is its accessibility. Print cannot get to all your fans, especially if you go with some small, independent publisher. Say goodbye to the fans in the boondocks and overseas. Also, print may be experiencing a rebound these days as you say, but don't expect it to last much longer. Print is dead, and you will be too if you choose to go with it.

It's good to know that you're not totally abandoning online comics. Maybe you have some sense left in your head. However, this new plan of yours of taking your most popular comic offline is quite possibly the stupidest idea you've ever had. Say goodbye to your fans and your career as a comic artist forever, for it will go offline with the comic.

Good luck with your new endeavors. You're going to need it.

1:30:00 PM

Maaa... I promised a rant on Monday, didn't I? Well, here's the rant on Friday! All rantastic for you! Let's go!

I finally got through most of my email yesterday and was late to work because of this. It was worth it. I feel so much better now, and I'm sure all of you who wrote me are happy right now. Most of the recent emails were about my bout of sickness last week and soy milk. I am here today to announce that I am feeling much better and soy milk is yummy. Thank you for your emails!

One of the emails I got, though, was not about sickness, soy milk, or the Jar archives (which I am working on; please be patient!). It was a letter from a Japanese fan that wanted to translate SGVY into Japanese. I of course gave my blessing. I love translations, and I especially love translations of my work. ^_^ Jersey Red's main page, from reading with my inadequate Japanese, appears to be a site on TS, but here's the link to the translations. Thank you, Jersey Red!

Hnnn... SGVY might be late next week seeing as I will be very busy this weekend. I will try to have it out on time. No, really, I am going to try. I expect nothing less from me.

Y'all have a good weekend. See you Monday!
