Feeling a little better. My voice is back but a little croaky. One more day of sitting ought to do it. Thank you to all the well wishes. It makes me feel better. ^_^

I've lost my voice! AAAAH! Or as I would be saying right now: "... ... ... ...!!"
This sucks. I've tried what little sign language I know, but I learned very quickly that nobody around me knows sign language. I even tried pantomime, but apparently the mime for "backpack" means "my back hurts" or "I've got a hernia." O_o;;
So I've resorted to writing, which is difficult because you have to beat against something until someone notices you to read what you've said. Plus, it takes forever to get an idea out.
I'm hoping that a day of rest will cause this to go away. And by day of rest I mean sitting in front of my computer working. I'm stupid that way.
Well, off to bed. Hopefully my sight will still be here when I wake up.
MY EYES!!

Gwaaa... I've been sick again. Coughing up crap and stuff. Ew! Aliens are living in my lungs! Not the chestbursting type, but disgusting nonetheless.
*tries to burn them out by swallowing fire, but is stopped by Harry Lime*
Muu. It would have worked.
The hurricane is long gone, and it is sunny as ever outside. Not that I've seen a lot of it. The red spiderlilies are blooming, so that can only mean one thing: fire. Bonfires! Fall is almost here, and I loves myself some bonfires. Whee!
Uh, that last paragraph sounds weird. I should probably sleep some more.
NO! I shall persevere! To work!
What the hell?

Well, the hurricane wasn't that bad in my area. Apparently it totally smacked Pensacola and Mobile. Ouch. I saw those pictures of the
I-10 bridge over Escambia Bay, and damn, that's destroyed. Unfortunately, the alternate route was destroyed as well! Yee! I hope my family down there is OK.
My mom's house is apparently fine, but her neighbors didn't fare so well. Neither did a lot of people around her. She spent the past few days here with me, cooking and reading. I spent the past two days sleeping and wandering about the flooded streets. I love hurricanes, by the way. I love being knocked over by strong gusts and nearly getting hit by stuff (which didn't happen today).
Today's wandering was to the grocery store. My mom wanted to make hamburgers, so C, T, Tom_Swan, who is also here, and I walked in that direction, dodging fallen trees and small rivers. It was closed of course, so we headed back. My mom, however, was determined to have hamburgers, so she, Tom_Swan, and I piled in her car and proceeded towards
Wal-Mart.
I thought it would be closed, since everything was closed, and the police were patrolling the streets quite heavily. But, no,
there it was, in all it's sprawling glory, open and ready to take our money. As we
walked up to it, I had this strange thought: If this is the last bit of civilization left, maybe not this second, but in the future, then we should end it now. I'm not sure why I thought this, but I did.
Needless to say, it was
packed. But not in the Xmas angry, maddening way, but in a strange spooked yet calm way. People weren't talking. Nobody blinked. They only grabbed what they needed, and then went up to the front to
get in line, not even arguing over who got there first. There was no sense in that. There was a 'cane ablowing outside. We are all going to die. (Not really.)
So we grabbed the
hamburger meat (which of course involved arguing over how much we needed. My mom saying more, and me saying less). All
the bread was gone, as well as the milk. There was plenty of
water left, and sadly, there was plenty of beer left too. I really love how most people would get beer over water during a disaster, but I suppose there's some logic to it. Better drunk and happy than sad and sober.
The trip was quick.
The line went fast as there was no arguing over maxed credit cards or bad checks. We left Wal-Mart in record time. We had our hamburger meat, and all was good.
That's it. Not much else to say. The hamburgers were good. Nobody got seriously hurt. A laptop was stolen. And there was much drunkenness.
I wish the hurricane had been as easy as it was for me for everyone. I hope that all who went through Ivan are safe and in a warm place, hopefully your home.
Good night!
Whoosh.

If you're wondering what that last post was about, yes, I am in the path of Hurricane Ivan. Whee! Batten down the hatches!
I'm not sure if I have to go to work tomorrow. You'd think that'd be something pretty obvious, but apparently it's not. I guess I'll find out tomorrow if a decision has been made.
I guess I should use this time to work, but I'm kind of busy with family. Ah well. If everything's blown away, that'll give me time, right?
To watch
The Weather Channel!

What you think?

Ah, it is good to be back in the white room. I had a blast at
Dragon*Con. So much to see and do in just four days! I feel as though I have been in one of those whirlygigs.
I was on quite a few panels this year. Each one was most excellent. I have to say that Anime's Classic Comics panel and the EFF's Webcomics panel were my favorite. I think I was on eight total as well as being the MC for the Anime Cosplay Contest! I ended up being the MC at the last minute because the person who was supposed to do it never showed up. It was my first time doing something like that, but I want to do again. The rush of "ham" power you get when a microphone is put in your hand is very intoxicating.
I really enjoyed meeting all of you as well! It was nice to be able to talk and learn what you liked about the comic and what you were interested in. It was also nice to meet so many webcomic artists like
Jennie Breeden and
Pete Abrams.
Rob Balder and the
All Grown Up crew were there as well, and they were awesome as usual.
I didn't buy much this year, actually. I got a Totoro pin, some manga, and a most awesome statue of Oscar from
Rose of Versailles. Nobody but the guy who was selling it and me knew what it was! Read some classics, people!
I want to thank Molly, Deborah, everyone else from the Anime Track, Scott, the
EFF, and the girls at Guest Registration. You made this Dragon*Con a special one. I'll be back next year for sure!
In other news, I'm not giving out Jpop. I was asking what was good in the world of Jpop these days. ^_^;; I'm looking for some new working music.
Gotta go eat now!
